Happenings at SPEF

Join US as we celebrate an US Day annual event

September 17th – 24th
UNITING STAMFORD. SUPPORTING EDUCATION.

It’s been eight years since the McInerney family partnered with the Stamford Public Education Foundation for the first annual 5K walk/run inspired by the life and memory of Marcus Dixon McInerney, a Stamford High School graduate.

This year’s MarcUS for Change 5K Walk and Run will look different. It’s a fun, “socially-distanced” 5K, ensuring the safety of all. It is taking place during the week of September 17th –  24th.  There’s no timing, no competition, and no registration fees.

Currently we are signing up Team Captains. Join us by putting together a roster of 5 – 10 team members. It's easy and fun. A SPEF Race Marshall will help you coordinate the logistics. Teams have a week to run or walk one of several courses charted throughout the City of Stamford (or teams can create their own 5K). We will be providing each team with t-shirts and encouraging everyone to take photos and videos to share with us and on social media.

Sponsorships are available. Show your support for public education. Become a sponsor today. All proceeds benefit the Stamford Public Education Foundation.

New and Noteworthy at SPEF

Post Secondary Success

We’re excited to share that this summer SPEF launched Pathways, a program that supports the transition of high school graduates into career opportunities that afford them the ability to earn a Living Wage. Our program, which helps young adults realize their future paths by exploring different careers, includes a $1,000 stipend to support their pursuits. Know a Stamford residents of the 2020 graduating class who wishes to pursue a non-college career track? Are you an employer willing to share career insights and opportunities with graduates from our community? Contact Francesca at 203-309-6393 or email her at fprincipe@spefct.org.

We’re excited to share some news! SPEF has been evaluated by Charity Navigator through its Encompass Rating System and received a 100 out of 100 rating!

This achievement for SPEF couldn’t have happened without you and your support. Thank you for being part of our family as contributors, funders, and volunteers. Your trust in us is what makes the difference to us and the Stamford students and families we serve.

SPEF Collaboration Spotlight

SPEF is excited to share we have been selected as one of the prize winners of the Deloitte Foundation WorldClass Grant Challenge. The award recognizes organizations that have a demonstrated approach to helping people on a path to success. We have received a one-time donation of $35,000 from the Deloitte Foundation to aid us in the advancement of our mission.

SPEF was selected among non-profits from across the US that collaborate with their local Deloitte offices in community programming. Deloitte’s commitment to help bridges between education, skills training, and employment is part of the WorldClass ambition to impact 50 million futures.

   End Note
For those with young children in your life, here's a fun video to watch together about mask wearing.
