Swinging Into Action at SPEF's First-Annual Golf Tournament!

Thank you to all who attended and supported SPEF's first-annual golf tournament, Tee Off For Education! SPEF brought together nearly 100 golfers on Thursday, June 29th, at the Sterling Farms Golf Course. Golfers enjoyed an afternoon that included a BBQ lunch, a relaxing round of golf, a silent auction, and an exciting awards reception ceremony.

Special shout-out to Lorenzo Scorziello, a rising Junior at Stamford High School and member of the Golf Team, who hit his first ever hole-in-one on the course!

July 5th marked the start for our Summer Start program at Hart Magnet Elementary School. This very special program is dedicated to preparing incoming Kindergarten students who have had little to no preschool experience. Our teachers and para educators, mostly from Stamford Public Schools, provide our students with five weeks of robust lessons to best prepare them for their upcoming educational days at our Stamford Public Schools. 

During Summer Start, students are introduced to our phonemic awareness program used at our Elementary Schools, taught classroom rules and routines that we follow while at school, work on letter identification and sounds, number identification and counting, and work on literacy skills such as retelling and answering 'why' questions about the stories. Students learn through hands on and engaging activities that meet their educational needs. 

The greatest "adventure" for our students is when they have the opportunity to ride a school bus as we venture out for a field trip to the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. SoundWaters of Stamford will also be coming to Hart one day to allow our students to experience life in Long Island Sound. Our students also look forward to meeting the administration from their Kindergarten school as principals are invited to come to see our program in action.

We look forward to see these smiling faces enter Hart each day until August 4th and give them their best first school experience possible.
