October 2023

Join Us in Welcoming SPEF's New CEO, Magdalena Loucks!

SPEF recently announced that Magdalena (“Malena”) Loucks assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer effective September 25, 2023. A member of SPEF’s Leadership Team since January 2022 and a SPEF staff member since 2019, Malena succeeds Lindsay Wyman, who stepped down to pursue new opportunities in her career.

Malena joined SPEF as Community Outreach Coordinator in November 2019, and has since been promoted to Strategic Partnerships Manager and then Chief Operating Officer, leading the organization's business operations and spearheading important initiatives to improve the organization's effectiveness in financial management, planning and process establishment.

We are thrilled to introduce Malena as SPEF's CEO and wish her happiness and success in her new position!

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED SPEF'S ANNUAL SPEF 5K WALK & RUN!

SPEF's 5K brings in over 750 registrants and a newly added "SPEFy Fun Run"

Thank you to all of our supporters who stepped out for education! On Sunday, October 1st, SPEF brought the Stamford community together in record numbers for our 11th annual SPEF 5K Walk & Run. Friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors gathered to show they care about public education. With over 750 registrants and the newly added "SPEFy's Fun Run" for those under 12, this year’s 5K was one to remember!

After the 5K concluded, SPEF’s family-friendly FallFest was a hit! SPEF’s FallFest included interactive, hands-on activities for kids (presented by Kids Helping Kids and other community partners), SPEF’s Books Across Stamford book giveaway, tasty fall treats – and more!

There’s still time to help us hit our fundraising goal for SPEF’s 5K Walk & Run: Make your impact by supporting SPEF here!
