New and Noteworthy at SPEF

Mentoring is Back!

SPEF is celebrating 15 years of the Stamford Mentoring Program, and we need your help!

We have 100 middle school students who need mentors for the 2024-25 school year. The Traditional Mentoring Program provides academic and social/emotional support, as well as college and career readiness initiatives to students who have been identified by school staff as needing additional support.

As a mentor, you will encourage, support, and serve as a role model to a student who has been chosen to participate in the program. Mentors are provided with training and support every step of the way.

About SPEF:

The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) is an independent non-profit agency dedicated to elevating the success of under resourced students in the Stamford Public Schools district. SPEF’s comprehensive programs span from Kindergarten readiness initiatives to impactful mentoring and tutoring programs for High School students.

Of the 16,400 students in the district, 64% are identified as high needs students, defined by the CT Department of Education as students with disabilities, English Learners, or those eligible for free/reduced-price meals. SPEF stands as a pillar of support to ensure that every student has equitable access to a quality public education.
